The Kelly Fund for Lupus Inc. was founded in May 2008 by Brenda Blackmon. Her daughter, Kelly, was diagnosed with lupus and vowed after her life threatening recovery to make a difference in combating this disease. Much of the money raised by the Kelly Fund goes to the Alliance for Lupus Research and in other ways by promoting awareness and understanding of the disease.

The company exists to support, serve and educate both those affected by lupus and the general public, with particular emphasis toward women in minority communities, by promoting awareness and understanding of the disease in an effort to improve treatment and diagnosis while searching for a cause and cure. The company operates exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
