Brenda Blackmon is co-anchor of the PIX11 News at 6:30. The many professional accolades she has received speak to her continued commitment to excellence in reporting. In 2010, she won her fourth Emmy Award for Best Single Newscast and has been nominated for 15 additional Emmy Awards. Blackmon is also the recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award for Broadcast Excellence. Additionally, she has won more than a dozen Associated Press Awards. WWOR-TV presented a special salute in honor of her career that began in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia where she was recognized as One of the Century’s Most Influential.

However, closest to Blackmon’s heart are her contributions to the national campaign to help find a cure for Lupus. In addition to her support for the Alliance for Lupus Research, Blackmon also founded her own organization, The Kelly Fund for Lupus, Inc. a tribute to her daughter Kelly who has Lupus. “A Mom’s Story” describes Blackmon’s journey and emotions she experienced while waiting for her daughter to recover from a debilitating attack caused by the illness. All proceeds from sales of the book go towards lupus research.
